Filezilla

Uhh, I hope all you Filezilla users are using sFTP, and I'm surprised there has so far been little/no mention of TortoiseSVN/Git/SVN.

If you develop, you simply must be using version control. No excuses, I'm not even a back end developer and I use it.

QFTW. If anyone doesn't know how to set it up, see my guide to setting up SVN on Windows.

I use GitHub and I agree that any SVN is necessary for any kind of development role.

This.

I use Dreamweaver (Code view only) as I love the auto judge feature when coding, makes life so much easier. I'm lazy I know.

Coding: Espresso/Sublime Text 2
Graphics: Photoshop, Illustrator, Icons Express
Preprocessing: Codekit
Version control: Git for version, Beanstalk for deployment. Tower to handle both in a GUI
FTP: Transmit 4 (or the built in sync from espresso)
SQL: Sequel
Local: MAMP Pro
Testing: Mac native Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome and Browserstack
iOS Simulator,
A handful of varied mobile devices.

I've just retired my Virtual machines of (Xp w/ ie6), (Xp w/ie7), (Win7 w/ ie8), (Win7 w/ie9, chrome, opera, firefox), (Debian 5 w/ chromium, firefox, opera) since it was a nightmare when it came around to IE testing/previewing then Browserstack came along and everything was right with the world.

edit: Awful grammar.

I first started out with Notepad++ then moved on to Dreamweaver but for the price it's not that great for someone who doesn't use the WYSIWYG editor function (which i don't).

I have just downloaded Aptana and will give it a try.

If I'm coding on Linux i use Bluefish.

Old thread

I've recently fallen in love with PHPDesigner 8.

It's a decent price too, €29 for a personal licence (2 computers) and €69 for a commercial license (3 computers).

Feature wise it's not quite up their with the top dollar IDE's, but it's pretty solid, and got pretty much everything I need.

Watch the video, see what you think ;)

When developing I use a combination of Github (for source tracking), vim & netbeans.

I've used Aptana Studio and I liked it alot. It is a platform that supports many developing languages and best of all its free. I would highly recommend this software for any developer. Its good for business and personal!

Coda is my primary tool for web development, coupled with MAMP Pro for working locally.
