Which Editor?

What editor do you use to code in?

At the minute I'm using notepad for xhtml & css and then dreamweaver for asp and php however I think DW is waaay too sluggish so I want to find something else.

I really like the look of coda but its for mac and I havn't got my mac book pro yet

I dont like ugly software at all lol.

Anybody reccommend anything?

I love my WeBuilder - http://www.blumentals.net - it's a got a few nice features like code colouring, auto complete and browser previews (IE and FF). It loads very fast and under constant developement and the price won't break the bank

Hi guys,

I have been using Dreamweaver for years but lately I am not very satisfied with its CSS abilities. It seems to not have a good design view when building W3C sites and I kind of feel like I am loosing those extra minutes that I need in order to rap up a project fast. Has anybody been trying out anything else with better results?

I use Windows and / or Linux so suggestions for both platforms are welcome.

WeBuilder, the editor I use, has built in live previews using IE and Firefox so you can see changes in real time. What's more because it uses the actual browser engines the results are 100% accurate. I'm don't know any other editors that do this but I'm sure there are some.

I checked out webuilder and it looks good. I would like to have more browser options, by I guess I can just load the pages in the other browsers later.

The live previews use an API that's supplied by the software manufacturers. Microsoft and Mozilla allow access to use the API in other apps but Opera and Safari/Apple don't allow it so they can't be added. This has been asked for on the Blumentals forums but alas it can't be done. You can still add as many browsers as you like to the "Preview in..." menu.
