Hello All

I hope this is the correct place for this post if not i apologies.

What i am looking for is a property site with similar areas as right move. I understand that such sites as rightmove have lots of money, however what i am looking for is something with the same areas.

For example:

An area for estate agent to log in, add their own properties with the need for myself too. Also the ability for customers to search the database to find relevant information.

I would need it doing by November, is this a realistic time frame?

I also am wondering if it is possible to use something like Joomla, however, i would rather not. But if it were cheaper than possible.

I am aiming to spend around £3500, would this be realistic?

I do hope that you can help, and once again i apologies if it is the wrong place to ask for this information.

Many Regards

Tom

Hello All

I will reply to everyone’s PM's soon. However I have a few questions, this is my first company and would like some information.
1. What are the benefits of using someone that is freelance, over a company?
2. How can you guarantee the work is done to what you want? i.e. contract etc.
3. What happens if the work that is done, is not what you asked for?
4. Is it best to meet with the designer first?
Thanks for all of your PM’s.

Tom

1. Personal Touch and Price
2. Set out a contract between developer and yourself.
3. Refer to contract and ensure its done right
4. if your spending 3.5k mate I'd definately want to meet said developer

Important question: will you be using 3rd party property feeds for your property data (eg in Rightmove format)?

The properties will be posted via a letting agent log in area, where they would upload information then people would search.

Just wondering, what is the Rightmove format?

Thanks

Rightmove have their own XML/RSS feed that allows agents to export/import data to and from their web sites or standalone software. However, as you're simply allowing other agents to post to your site I wouldn't think you'd need to worry about it :)

There are several off the shelf scripts around that are geared up for this type of site, you could use a Content Management System that's built up into an agents type site, or you could probably get something completely custom made with your budget.

Have a look through http://www.hotscript...ds/real-estate/ for off the shelf systems, but be careful as many of them are rubbish!

I've built a couple of property sites using Expressionengine CMS and that was pretty straightforward :)
