Its any message box I think, it happens when you watch a thread/forum too.

Another thing. Links used to open in a new tab/window but they no longer do unless i've messed up a setting somewhere.

I've just realised you can hide that right hand column using the x at the top right.... That's better! :)

....but I do miss the 'top' buttons at the foot of every post. I used to use those all the time :(

I've put together a user-stylesheet for anyone who wants to give the new WDF a fixed width. It's a temporary measure until Ben introduces his own version. My version is 1200px wide but feel free to edit the stylesheet and make it whatever width you want.

It's not perfect but it makes the forum at a lot more readable by reducing the line-length of posts. Good enough for the time being.

Who do I message to let them know some feedback?
Just all the links are opening in the parent window on posts, instead of a blank one and it's rather annoying.

Ben, you were speaking earlier about the latest posts and it must be just you that can see all threads because I most definitely can't, any thread that I have EVER posted in disappears completely from that section, which is irritating because we can't keep up to date like we used to be able to, and having to subscribe to a thread and receive e-mails every ten minutes is annoying :(.

I hear you Traxor, unfortunately, this is something I can't change as it's standard Invision way. They are pretty responsive to suggestions and have implemented a few things I have suggested for this version, so i'll drop them a line and see what they think.

Hmmm, where's the 'x'? I can't seem to find it.

Anyway, what's the 'Multi Quote' below every posts for? What can I do with it?

It can quote multiple quotes so to speak.

You select them more than once and then process your reply?

I think the new forum design is sleek and contemporary. I like the new color combos of dark blue and green as it's cool to the eyes. Having the member's avatar on the top right is cool too and below the search panel. Very convenient and user friendly. Congrats Ben and to the moderating team for a great forum. :D

You could use my code in a previous post to get a fixed width layout temporarily. You'd need to use SafariStand or Stylish so you can run the custom stylesheet just for WDF.

I don't know, I go on holiday for a week and look what happens...

Here's my feedback...

Visual: a step forward. Very smart, however fixed width version essential (ideally optimised for 1024x768), as long lines of text are a usability no-no.

Functional: a big step back...
a) No "new posts since last login" or "today's posts" option is REALLY frustrating - I can't believe IPB removed that feature.
b ) [had to put a space after the b because of the stupid autosmiley thing] On the new "new content" listing page, it doesn't show who started each thread.
c) Courier in the rich text editor is not a good font for readability.
d) How do I turn the rich text editor off? Can't find the option any more.
e) Not opening links in a new tab by default is rather irritating. It should be a user-selectable option. The doctype is irrelevant - it could easily be achieved by a tiny jQuery call on document ready.
f) On the "new content" listing, it's much harder to see at a glance which threads are unread. The folder icons are not intuitive, and they don't show tooltips.

I've created a GreaseMonkey script for those who are itching to see the "Mark all as read" and "Show new posts" links back in a prominent place. You'll have to install the script manually instead of clicking on "New User Script" otherwise the jQuery won't work. All the script does is move the relevant links into the main navigation at the top. Much nicer!

// @namespace		http://webdesignerforum.co.uk/
// @description		Modify WDF
// @include			*
// @require			http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.js
// ==/UserScript==

$(document).ready(function() {
	$('#utility_links li:nth-child(4)').appendTo('#primary_nav ul').addClass('left');
	$('#section_links li').eq(0).appendTo('#primary_nav ul').addClass('left');
});

I can't believe how long it's been since I visited. I've only just seen the new design - fabulous.

There hasn't been a single spam report that I've seen since. Is this because spam is filtered better by the new IPB, or because the report feature isn't working since the upgrade?
