Hey,

I'm pleased to announce the forum, blog and gallery has been upgraded.

I've yet to replace the logo, which i'll be doing shortly.

There are a few other things out standing, but nothing that should effect you all using the forum.

Thank you for your patience during the upgrade.

Regards

Thanks very much for the feedback, this is pretty much going to be the look and feel asit's very clean and well layed out. = It may take a small bit of getting used to at the start!

Glad you like it.

I'll be creating a fixed-width version as well, hopefully you'll like that one :)

Nice one, Ben. As others have said - and I am sure many more will - it will take a bit of getting used to, but looks very smart.

There are a couple of features that would be good, like the ability to switch of the rich text editor in quick reply...

Snap, I'm not overly keen on the text-area font either but that's only a small annoyance.

It's gonna take a bit of getting used to but first impressions of the new look are good. I'm a little dubious on the layout of the homepage as it looks a little lopsided with the sidebar on the right and pushed down because of the little button above it. Is there an option to put the sidebar on the left? It will look so much better in my opinion.

Okay, I really, really like the new look, but I, being in my second childhood, couldn't resist clicking on an interesting button on the lower right of a person's post, and voted it down one by mistake...I apologize, cinnamondm, and would really like to take it back if possible.

Definitely and improvement but on my wide-screen it's almost ridiculously wide.

Well this new look is a little different, going to take a bit of exploring to see where things are.

Maybe there should be a max width to it though so that it doesn't keep spanning on widescreen, so once it its a certain size it just centers, as at the moment I feel like I am reading mile long lines of text...but that's just my opinion I'm sure if it stays super stretchy that it will be gotten used to.

Anyway... I came back on the thread to post this - very minor annoyance but there all the same.

In the profile, the bottom left hand boxes are a bit out of alignment.

I've found something I don't like now.

I used to like the old 'Find new posts' or whatever it said link listing all new posts for the last day. If I wanted to go back to a thread, it was easy to find. Now, we only have the latest 5 on the homepage, while the 'View New Content' link will not display them if you have visited that thread (not disputing its actual function as it does what is logical).

What I would like to ask is if it is possible to have a link on the homepage's 5 'Latest Discussions' box that might let us list a larger number, or for last 24 hours, as the old version used to do?

EDIT:
Second thoughts, I am disputing the actual function of 'View New Content'. I am writing before I am thinking again :fool: It doesn't list a thread if you have visited it and something is then posted on it later. There is new content but it doesn't show up in the list. That's what 'Latest Discussions' is doing on the homepage but listing only 5 of those is quite pointless and it should give us the option to view more of those (as per request above).

OK that should be fixed now, thanks for pointing that out :)

Regarding new posts, perhaps it should show latest 10 then do you think? :)

Lovely, yes that is fixed.

Re the new posts - if I'm honest I would prefer a list like we used to have. I don't know whether other people relied on it in the same way but it was always that link I used to read the forum from as it gave me all the new posts in one go and kept up with the updates while online.

Even having 10 listed, if it's busy or when you have been away for a few hours, how many will get missed? Does the 'View New Content' link bring back links to threads you have already visited if you go away for a while and then come back?

If it can't be done, I guess I would have to go to looking through the homepage for any forum that shows its had a new post and go individually into any that have.

No worries, glad it's all working now.

The View New Content and how it works will have to work as it currently is. I went to view new content clicked on a thread...went back refreshed and it still showed, so I guess it doesn't disappear... Don't forget you can subscribe to threads you want to follow :)

I've increased the 5 latest discussions to 10 - which works exactly the same as the old "Latest 10 Posts" - but you don't have to scroll to the bottom any more.

Oh well, thanks for looking Ben. Though I wonder if your increased admin role gives you more visibility under 'View New Content' as mine has three
things under it for today, the three threads I have not visited. And yes, I have given it a full refresh!

I'm not keen on the subscribe function. I shall find some way of following that I like, just need to keep playing for a while!

New look of the forum felt quite strange when first saw it 'cause you're always comfortable with what you're used to, but started getting used to it after ten minutes. Think it looks great now.
