Hi Guys,

I'm sure you've heard this more times than you can remember BUT.....I have my first eccommerce project and could do with a bit of advice about where to start. The client runs an online shop already and has around 300-400 products that are avilable to buy.

The client wants their site redesigning and requested the following features:-

The website should meet W3 standards and validate.

The website should have search engine friendly URLs on both the category and product pages.

Possibly have a blog incorporated into it.

Every page on the website should have a unique meta page title tag, description tag and keywords.

There should be a feature to show products as 'sold out' when not available

The site should be big (take up a lot of screen space) and the product pictures should be big.

All of the images should be labelled with alt tags.

The website should make use of h1 tags – at the very least the main header in each page should be in H1.

redirect all of the old pages to the new pages

Of course I can code to w3 standards and produce a layout that they have requested but can anyone advise about the best package to use (free or otherwise) to suit the other above requirements (serach engine friendly URL's, blog, 'sold out' feature etc) ...will I need to have an advanced knowledge of PHP & MySQL to get this done?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks, Sam

Probably the best type of cart would be one that can be uploaded to your website so you get absolute control.
Obviously, a template type cart is unlikely to satisfy all your needs because you haven't got full control. You need one that could be integrated into an existing website.
