Reminds me of the thunder storms we'd get in Granada - not a good time to be on the rooftop terrace with all those metal handrails everywhere.
Great photos - I'm with Helen... I love lightening.

I get a real sense of achievement when I get a good shot of lightning. The thing with lightning is that you only see it for a split second. To capture it in a picture just makes you appreciated how awesome it is

I have seen some spectacular storms in Italy.

And one particular one in Monte Carlo that was rolling in over the sea..... It was absolutely amazing (and a little scary)

In the first one, a few moments later I was holding 12ft of carbon fishing rod - now that was scarey!! (the fish fell off too and I got soaked)

How did you capture this, it seems almost near impossible without some auto sensor or something cool that cameras can do.

Great shots btw

Yeah, I would be interested to know how you caught them! Wouldn't mind having a go myself (Although we don't seem to get many storms round by us)

I too am a photography noob

If I told you it would blow the mystery - it's nothing special.

Find yourself a storm, referable from a good distance away. Open the lens as wide as possible. Sit the camera on a tripod with the camera facing towards the storm. Try to work out which way it's moving too - you can sort of predict where the next strike will be. Set the camera with a really long shutter speed 20-30sec and the manual focus to infinity. Then take shot after shot until you capture a flash of lightning. Move the camera as the storm moves.

Sounds fairly advanced / experienced to me, although anything with "to infinity" beckons to be appended with "and beyond"

Wow! Pretty awsome stuff! I like the way you say it's nothing special and then go on to explain how amazingly complex it is! made me laugh, good work :)
