I have been inspired by this modding competition to create this thread so

What does your case look like?

Have you modified your case, or did you get a really nice case when you got your computer, what mods have you made, or what does your case look like? Have you done any custom mods to it such as painting? Have you done anything out of the ordinary to your case for one reason or another?

My boyfriend for example is obsessed with old games especially games for the nes. Well he used to emulate the game and play with a keyboard, one day he got sick of it and decided he needed a way to plug in his old Nes pads so did this...

Attached File  nes_plate.jpg (42.11K)
Number of downloads: 31

It was fully functional and he used it up until he got a new case, the only reason it didn't go in that was because he broke it while trying to take it out the old one.

I'll take some pics of my case a little later on (when I can find where I put my camera :p)

Antec superlanboy 350 (my dream case a while ago :))
i have mounted a new fan on the HDD rack to cool it MORE. sleeved ALL the cables blue added super bright LED fans flipped the HDD rack and a few window mods such as meshing and the apple decal,

soon i shall be dremaling all of the fan holes (grates) to increase airflow. i will eventually shorten the HDD stack and make more fans fit in. aswell as in the 3.5 slots. im going to rip the plastic front out and replace it with solid aluminum casting.and get it shiny :)

Wow I can't believe you casted it out yourself. Normally when I have projects like that (but with machining parts) I send it out to a company and have them make it for me. Yes it costs money but with the effect I would end up putting plus the cost for the materials would end up being the same. But that is a thing of beauty. I would love to buy that case.

Currently I live off of my laptop. I have a desktop which uses the general dell GX260 case but I ended up taking everything apart and installed my own items into it. I may get a new casing for it soon. Sorry I'm a sucker for small CPU's

Yeh CPCFF is kinda like an offshoot forum from CPC..

The blue effect in the case is water.. thats the main feature. Its basically an aluminum frame with 1/2" tubing coiled round it then filled with UV Reactive Water.

Heres a pic I took of it with green water inside it:

Here is my case I have know idea what the name of it is, and well it looks pretty and that's the only reason I wanted it :)

Attached File  case5.jpg (221.91K)
Number of downloads: 8Attached File  case3.jpg (153.69K)

The grate/ protector type thing on the fan I changed as the original was a little boring (so I did customise something I guess)

Attached File  case4.jpg (190.45K)

The tubes on the side have bubbles in them so it gives an almost glittery look, and they change colour so I'm not stuck with one :)

Alienware may be owned by Dell, but they're still a separate entity unto themselves. They're not modding anything.

I call my laptop a laptop because it'll happily keep my lap warm for three and a half hours while I write markup. It's dinky, it's sexy, it's not heavy, it's definitely not a replacement for my desktop.

As long as the battery don't go BOOM... ;)
Them videos of the laptops exploding is scary. I've even seen a picture of the same mobile as I got after a meltdown. (Made it a bit cautious about putting it in my pocket...)

toooo big!!!

I'm really into dinky PCs, and anything around the size of a Mac Mini is the right size... as long as it isn't a mac!

Reckon you could squeeze one in using a MicroITX board?

Yeh probably but it would make more sense to just buy a microATX base.

These are my favourite SFF case at the minute... Lian Li V300.
Im gonna buy a couple and anodise them in some bright colour then re-sell them.

A MicroATX base is too big. They tend to have the footprint of a laptop. Something with the footprint of a CD case would be amazing... I think I saw something called a PicoATX, which someone held in their hand with room to spare, but I don't think it is available to purchase.

Check out miniITX. I got one and it's about 110/120% of my Mac Mini.

you can even get picaITX which is even less. But that' more for embedded systems.

If any of you case designers are also solidworks experts, I am trying to get someone to design a case for me using solidworks - it's for a super small form factor media server, similar to the widely publicised "Black Dwarf" case.

If you would like to help design the case, please bid on my freelancer project at:
http://www.freelance...ase-design.html

While I'm willing to pay for the design (because I want such a case myself), my current intention is to release the design for the case for free (open source it) after it is completed.

Best

James
