I've been looking into this a lot over the past few days, I've opened my eyes to Joomla.

The posibilities and time saving features are endless.

In my opinion it is good for blogs but I wouldn't develop a serious website in it. Just my opinion.

I wouldn't develop a serious site in Joomla, if you want a proper CMS, pony up the 150 and get Expression Engine.

Joomla is a good skill that will get you work as alot of people do request it, but it takes alot of time and design skills to get the website looking professional.

Wordpress i believe is alot easier to use and generally turns out looking better, simple is good.

I would recomend you play around with both of them for a little while and see which one you prefer.

I don't like Joomla - and so I would recommend WP over it any day.

I am learning Wordpress at the moment, and have built 2 custom themes in it... it's fairly easy, I don't find it as flexible for custom templates as CMS Made Simple...

Great blogging tool and set of plugins though! :D
