Do designers on here make and sell their own templates (i.e. for websites, WordPress, etc.)?

imo its over crowded and its stupid hard to get heard over the crowd. however, you could make them for free with a link to your site and then sell another footer link there. you might make £500+ pa from that.

We never sell templates.
Mainly because the ones we produce are unique - and they wouldn't integrate with another site easily since the systems are built around the design specifically.

I noticed on Template Monster they have an option where you can sell multiple copies or only one of any template you have.
Things like WordPress templates seem to be the best templates to design, if you wanted to design templates, from what I can gather.

most good template cost money and require customisation...
hence it seems practically to create one of for yourself and customised it ..

OK. I think for the time/effort involved in making them and the little return made on them, it sounds kinda pointless going down that avenue.

I think that, like all of these things, the key is in the quality of the design.
If your WP designs stand out there is certainly good money to be made in going down that route...
