Hey all,

I'm trying to promote my business, joining forums, link exchange, SEO tips and tricks, but how can I get more traffic to my site and get more business?

Keep your blog busy, be descript with wording and even if it is an off topic blog post try and drop in a few keywords.

My latest blog was totally unrelated to web dev... it was about a game. I dropped in this sentence to the post. (whilst taking a break from web design i like to play the occasional game)

From that it increases chances of people hitting the site looking for game related web design, which is quite a big niche market in itself.

Your doing the right things with link exhchanges and forums etc.

Maybe a local campaign? I have always found the best work comes from word of mouth in the local area.

Good luck. :)

I notice you're from Northern Ireland. Theres a company I know of called "CoNet" (they're actually on this forum) http://www.designbyconet.com/ - They sometimes post on here looking for additional assitance / help on some of their projects, they're based in Belfast and are often wanting developers/designers in Northern Ireland only - So you might be what they need. You might want to drop them a line or send them an email, introducing yourself and ask if you could have first refusal on any surplus projects or if they'd be interested in using you as a freelancer or something? Worth a try?

Ben.

Any ideas regarding a local campaign, becuase I had a similar idea, to sell my design skills locally... word of mouth is everythng in web design, well nearly everything ;), I'm teaming up with a few local graphic designers as a means of promoting my business locally but would love a few more ideas

You can use PPC for promoting your business. Its a great way to get new clients quickly. You can target your marketing campaign based on a geographical area, time and much more. It is really very flexible and powerful way of promotion.
