Hey guys Im new to web design as it is but what is SEO? how does it effect your site? Does it effect cost of a site your designing?if so how?
Just a general guide on SEO and how it's used, I know it stands for search engine optimisation but how can you effect it.

The list is endless, content, targeted keywords, and quality back links are some good starting points.
I'd also emphasize one of the more overlooked aspects (your a fool not to do this!) but research! Before anything try to know everything you can about the keywords and search phrases your targeting. Too many people just run a dozen or so keywords off the top of their head.
http://www.seomoz.org/ << is a great resource, lot's of quality free info
Google has some good tools available for research, and picking what searches and keywords you want to target (there's no point an entry level site going for the extremely competitive searches).
Someone else will post tomorrow, there are alot of people on this forum who know alot more about this field than i do, but there's alot to know, it's an entire industry in itself.
