Hi

I was just wondering how I can test sites to see how they look in IE6 as it seems to be quite troublesome! (so I'm told :unknw:)

Actually what are the problems with IE6?

Also whats the best way to test sites in multiple browsers? I know there are some sites that can do this but which should I use and is it even possible to run more than one version of a browser on a single system??

Any suggestions welcome. :wacko:

Maybe this should be a sticky for refrence?

Many thanks. :D

If you want multiple installations of ie then: http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE

Support should only go back as far as ie6, ie5.5 you can do if you want, but really isn't necessary.

Other than that, browser shots is always my first port of call.

OK another thing to remember is i.e has behavors and in IE6 this has to be used to show png files so they are not displayed as jpeg images as i found out..

Someone might be able to show us a site that has all these odd things that old browsers do..

<!--[if IE 6]>
	<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="IE-6-SPECIFIC.css" />
<![endif]-->

#pngdiv {
	 display: none;
}

That usually solves it. Anywayz, IE6 really sucks ass. Imo just do some kind of warning that they should update their 8 year old browser.

Webdesigners all over the world should make a stand against IE6 !!!

Thanks! :)

Heres a question... I dont get alot of traffic to my site so cant really tell nearly all the users have IE7 or Firefox 3, but how many people, generally, are still useing IE6 and old versions of other browsers? surely most people use the latest version because the browsers prompt you to update dont they? <_<

Don't think you can really trust those figures. WC3 school is a website for ppl who do programming. Those ppl are more likely to update their browser.

Actual % of people using IE6 is probably higher. If only we could get these kind of stats from google :(
