I started learning PHP around 3 months back, and in order to consolidate my studies I put a site together using PHP/MySQL. One baby and several headaches later, I'm very near finishing. Things are still a little placeholder here and there (especially the visuals, the main effort has been under the hood), I haven't validated or testing this cross-browser, but I thought I'd pop it up here anyway. Lemme have it!

Hi Sunwukung, Seems to run OK. Obviously with PHP and all Programming languages the only problems the sites viewers are ever able to pick out are the syntax errors that show on screen, or if you abuse and try to hack the systems to discover flaws. But from what I've seen it seems to work fine. I haven't experienced any problems with it.
Well done.

Although, I heartily disagree with the sites subject matter
I don't really want to choose between Kerry Katona or Michelle Bass!

I know, it all started with a similair question at work - and I thought, "You know what, that's a really good test subject for a PHP site....". Bit vulgar, but all good clean fun. Kind of...

It's down to the voters dude - the site started with everyone set to zero votes. Depends who comes up versus who.
I'll add loads more later, there's about 50 chaps and 70 girls.

I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe that more people voted for plastic Pam than for Cheryl Cole!

I absolutely refuse!

It MUST be a problem with your database!!!

lol

(Site looks good by the way!)

Immediately you can tell it's unfair as they seem to appear in a random order and I personally gave up after 2 votes. In other words, Cheryl must not be getting shown.

And Bo Derek? Old school!

JFTR, there are 70 women in the database, it does indeed pick the first one at random - and then recursively searches for another one within a similair age range, increasing the age gap each iteration until it has a temp table of 10, from which it picks one at random to compare to. Each new entrant into the database is given a mean score based on the scores currently in the DB. Bear in mind, all their scores are at zero, so the more votes, the more likely it will end up with Cheryl at the top.

Anyway, I think it's nice to have a selection from back in the day...less AGEIST that way....Hmmm??? Anyway, Holly Willoughby's much more my kind of gal...

So, what would be a fair way of playing the game? More of a structured eliminator? Not that I'm going to bother changing it, I was just to teach myself PHP, and that aim has been accomplished.

That would have been an easier site to make, a single static page with a picture of Cheryl Tweedy....over-rated geordie broom handle that she is...
