Should xhtml merge with shtml. Perhaps fwml "Final Web Markup Language". SXHtml and XSHtml are already taken.

They both seem useful. At the moment a developer much choose between them.

i dont really see a need for shtml since you can do the same thing and alot more with php, asp.net, colfusion and other languages. i am however looking forward to xhtml 2.0...or more like looking forward to when 90% of all browsers support it in any decent kind of way

It's not supposed to compete with PHP, it's just html with one really useful additional feature and it would be better if it was XHTML with one additional really useful feature. Effectively if you want the feature you can't use XHTML + Feature you are stuck with HTML + Feature.
