Sorry for the short list - there's a maximum of 20 answers for each poll question so the other hundred ways copywriting is important will have to wait. :D
The poll is very generalised so, if there's something specific you've got in mind or just for clarity, please also post what you chose, why and what you'd want from such an article - or why you don't see copy as important!

I've made the question multiple choice but please don't pick all 20! I'd suggest a maximum of 3?

How long the poll runs for and when I will actually write the article depends on the response - hopefully it will be low and then I can wriggle out of it!!!!

:hi:

Ooops, I might have picked more than 3 :blush1:

The landing pages, sectioning, blog writing and top 10 mistakes sound rather interesting though.

I've been waiting for more copy corner for Aaaaages! Give me more, more, MORE! :girl_devil:

Good to see you back in the corner, Wizely! :D

I have picked Article Writing, Structuring, and Writing for inspiration. It would be nice to get an overview of structure in web copy, particulary within articles, and a sense of where to draw the line it terms of scope - what to include, and what to leave for another article.

The choice of writing for inspiration is more out of my own creative curiosity and desire to extend my horizons.

Thank you kindly, in advance, sir!

It's like vultures circling in here! Cheers for the fast responses - there's obviously a call for an article from some!
Russ, unlike Eris (where's a mod when you need one!) - please don't spam the poll! ;) It's my pleasure to contribute to WDF, I've been ultra busy of late so apologies for the lack of recent articles.
Great feedback as always Notbanksy - that's perfect as you've picked 3 that really compliment eachother for exactly the right reasons.

On a personal level I hope the "meta tags" and "top 10" options die on their bums! If I wrote those kind of articles Copy Corner would be no more useful than something like Smashing Magazine that serves up chewing gum for the masses!!!! :o

Keep it coming folks!

Woooo a new article!

I choose 4 but I would highly recommend a article on how Thomas Hardy could improve the copy on his portfolio...
It was worth a shot

I don't understand why so many ticks "Writing effective meta tags"... Meta tags is less important than your copy on a website these days. Seems like a waste of time to me. :)

You'll have to pretend those options don't exist and go straight to "creating a brand"... it's you that has to write the bleedin' things at the end of the day!

It's quite, quite unbelievable how effective SEO propaganda is eh? I know it's important but so many people focus their entire efforts on things like meta tags as if it will be a magic bullet. Don't worry about what real SEO is about or what happens when people land on a site - just try every trick in the book rather than follow the readily available advice from Google and every SEO expert - produce high quality content.
Still, I'm not too unhappy... it's the easiest article of all to write - nothing's a secret and it's not difficult. It also allows me to keep hold of my real "secrets"! :D

I want to know all of your "secrets" ;)

You do need to make sure there is some content left for the blog though!

I think I'll manage content-wise... The other day I was sunbathing (tough life eh) and thought I'd jot down some ideas for articles to go on my blog. I got my notebook and just wrote down titles. About 200 later I decided to stop!
Have a look at the options in the poll and double it - you'll have about the number of topic areas. Then think of how many articles I could write under each area... :D

Agree with bluedreamer ^
I'm sure that whichever articles you write, they'll be great reading.
However, I have opted for 'creating effective landing pages', 'creating an effective funnel' and 'Slogans, straplines and soundbites'.

Anytime you like wizely :D

Cheers folks - I'd better get a move on (so will be closing the poll shortly) as I'm just planning a trip from Hong Kong to Shanghai to Beijing to Xian to (and here's the mammoth 3-day train ride part!) to Tibet then down into Szechuan, working down through Yunan and back to HongKong. Possibly with 'extensions' through Vietnam and/or Korea and Japan. B)

I voted for:
- Creating a "brand"
- Writing to sell
- Slogans, straplines and soundbites
Some people love meta and mistakes though ^_^

Well that makes 24 votes in and, with mine which I didn't get to cast (I nulled it so I could watch!) that will make 25. The runners are:

Writing effective meta tags? [ 9 ]
Creating a "brand" [ 8 ]
Top 10 mistakes to avoid [ 8 ]

Well, my vote goes for Creating a brand which makes it a tie with "Writing effective meta tags" and, seeing as I think I'll have the deciding vote in the event of a tie... the winner is:

Creating a "brand"

Terribly undemocratic? Heard of the Patriot Act or the Terrorism Act? Democracy is dead - long live the Wizelydom!
I will no doubt be writing all these articles and more, but we're going to start with this one - it's a lot more interesting than meta tags!

Thanks to all who voted - hope you don't feel too cheated.
