Hi all
I've just signed up for hosting on fasthosts with a mysql database and i've been transferred to a server that can apparently handle scripting. i've now to install zencart. My problem is that the server doesn't seem to handle php. I've tested it with the basic info.php script that's kicking around the web and all i get through my browser is a blank page. What am i missing? Is there any configuration i need to do within the htdocs that kicks this off? Do i specifically have to request from fasthosts that i need to be on a server with php5? Apologies if some of this doesn't make sense it's still a new vocabulary for me
Thanks, Steve

to confirm the above the below is the option i've checked on the fasthosts control panel. The fundamental question then is, how do i get the info.php script to work?
Dynamic website (using scripts or MS FrontPage) (Free)
This website will be hosted on a server designed specifically for using scripts.
Include ASP, PHP, Perl, compiled CGI, ISAPI and SHTML scripting.
You should also choose this option if you intend to use Microsoft FrontPage Extensions.

Just to make sure you have written the script correctly...
Open a blank file and place the following inside:
Save the file as info.php and upload to your web server. Navigate to the script and see if you get any output. You may have forgotten to place the <?php tags around your script. This initialises the PHP engine and your scripts will not work without it.

Dan

just to help you out,
cancle your fasthosts server and get your money back if not for 30days, zencart will never run full and secure on fasthost dues to SSL problems and half the scripts not installed as standard.
If you search zen-cart.com forum for fast hostyou will find 1000's of people with the same problems and no one been able to fix it.
i would recogment moving servers, and i would recogment camelot hosting http://www.camelot-h...ng.com/hosting/ little bit more expansive than fast hos but worth every penny, they will even install and zencart for free for you and the support if top quality. the owners are part of the zen-cart team so they really know what they are doing and are always helping people on the zen-cart forum.
you can also find me on the zen-cart forum.

Did you order a Windows Hosting Package or Linux Package from FH. If you ordered Windows, you will need to turn "scripting" on. However, their system is very confusing to say the least, if you wouldn't mind uploading a PHPInfo file to you htdocs that would soon tell you if PHP is working or not.
The transfer can be up to 24 hours for propagation as they are moving you from their envisage platform to the scripting cluster, their system, physically moves your website etc. If you need anything else, drop me a PM on and get away from Fasthosts as quickly as you can.

its not just getting the php working, if he is using zencart then he will be taking persoanl/sensative information so will need SSL security, fasthost SSL is poor and i not seen anyone getting it to work right.
actally looking at the prices on fast host now by the time you added securit locked folders £10, and mysql £25, and SSL etc its cheaper to move to camelot, fasthost offer unlimited bandwidth but with camelot you will have more than enough. i got 4 sites running on one server (gold package) which have 1000's of hits a day and i never gone over 50% of my montly usage, so unless you making something as big as amizon then unlimmited bandwidth means nothing.
