Hello

I asked for inspiration for a logo some time ago, but it took me a while to find something that I liked. I have desided to use a negative Celsius for logo, but I need a slogan so people can understand the message.

Slogans so far:

- Design beyond freezing point
- Design from North
- Arctic Designs (But that's not much of a slogan really.)

Do you have a slogan for me? I would like feedback on the excisting ones and some slogans from you too. :)

- Design beyond freezing point -| I rate this one 2/10 because it doesn't really mean anything to me.

- Design from North -| I rate this one 4/10

And I seriously can't think of anything that goes with arctic designs... -_-

This is what I've done so far... (Design is supposted to be 100% width when coded)

Maybe that will make it easier to come up with something that fits. :)

I love working on slogans/ straplines! Here's some suggestions to get the idea churn going:

"Absolute" - for a bit of intrigue (indirect reference to "absolute zero" - like Absolut vodka).
"Refreshingly cool websites"
"Seriously cool websites"
"Clean, clear, cool"

I'll let everyone else make suggestions before I go throwing out more! :D

Glacial designs.
Design as cool as ice.
Designs that will make you shiver.

Thanks for the suggestions Helen and Wizely. I connected two of the suggestions together. What do you think of:

Absolutely Refreshing

How does that sound?

I like it - it's simple, sounds good when you say it and takes a different angle - now all you have to do is carry it through from the logo, the copy and the graphic design to create a brand!

Thanks, Wizely.

I think I have created a logo that suits the site's name and slogan, but I'm not sure what you are talking about regarding the copy? Are you thinking about subheaders like "Are your web site fresh enought? We can help you with that", and using phrases like clear, cold, fresh, natural, distinct etc.....?

I really like the logo.
But just for curiosity sake, try the centigrade symbol after the word arctic or designs.

By the way - your english is very good, probably better that a lot of people who actually come from englan ;)

ha - why not got for Award winning web design and copywriter :)

@sono - how about incorporating something like a polar bear in the logo. Have you ever seen the ads for the mint sweets - "clearly refreshing" was their slogan with the bear sitting on a mint!

bluedreamer: That's a possibility, but the idea is maybe a little unoriginal? "Everybody" is using Ice bears for "cold and refreshing products"... You catch my drift? ;)

And btw: I love your website Wizely. Maybe I'll start a competing company called Wicked copy? :pp

No problem Sono and I look forward to competing with your new site Wicked Copy!

What I meant with regard to the copy was exactly that - these days a slogan/ strapline just doesn't work unless it's tied-in heavily with the actual content and brand - it's just like any element of design - it's no good sticking a really cool bright pink element in a website where everything else is aqua!
Just make subtle (and not so subtle) references to reinforce your Arctic theme throughout - in headings, subheadings and everywhere. Don't go overboard chasing witty puns or being too clever but try to create a 'mood'. If the theme is clean and crisp then don't have 'flowery' text - set a 'sharp' rhythm and keep the words short, clear and crisp. It's more than just sticking "cool" here and there!

Have a read through Copy Corner if you haven't already - I've written plenty that will help you here.

:hi:

Thanks for your answer, Wizely. I've read most of the content in Copy Corner, but reading twice can't hurt really.

Yes I agree it's not ideal but think about the concept, possibly having a mascot type figure maybe?

how about:
chilled out design
at the cool end of design and development
[cool slogan goes here]
less monkey, more code - as in the arctic monkeys, maybe to obscure...
ice ice baby
snowflake designs, each one unique

I think your logo should be a half built igloo on the left as the main logo, with a inuit ice fishing over to the left after the company name.

Right... But I live in Norway, not in Canada. We don't have inuits here. We have Sami people though.

But thanks for the comments. I will take them into consideration. ;)

Thanks

Ahhh... I totally forgot about this thread. :o

Anyhow, I think in your logo you'll need some ice and snow dripping off the text. :D
