I saw that on reddit a couple weeks ago, this is based off of some of the videos Paul has in his dropbox link. Some of the examples are better than the bad alternative, but not much better, for example the variable yearMonthDay still doesn't give any intent, it could be a post date, todays date, the date of an action, anything. In the clean code videos Martin advocates for using variable names as providing documentation, which many of these are still too vague to do. So some examples perhaps could be better, still good overall though and it encourages you to think a bit more about how you write certain things.

Yeah on second thoughts this document is a bit of a mixed bag.

I don't think these examples are superb. As Jack says, they're mostly taken out of the clean code book by Robert Martin, but some examples are poor, others are taken a bit out of context and still others are just bad advice in my opinion.

I did make a comment here:

    https://github.com/ryanmcdermott/clean-code-javascript/issues/126

As a footnote - when reading this back I realised the tone of what I wrote was probably a bit OTT. I could have done a better job of writing that feedback in a more positive way I think, but still, the points I raised are valid I think.

Very impressive, went way over my head at times. There's a course coming to frontend masters called algorithms and data structures in javascript, sounds like something you would like, although you seem to have it covered already.

Thanks, Jack! I would most definitely enjoy that course, I shall keep my eyes peeled. I've always wanted to understand the algorithm having played the game for most of my life so challenged myself to create it!
