Alright, I know it's going slow. But hey, it's not my fault (well, not entirely). If web design was my only concern, I'd be a pro by now
. Anyway, here's a report on some of my latest activities.
Maybe I didn't state this before, but the summer course of web design that launched me into the business 2 years ago included only the basics. And guess what - those basics were mostly making websites in tables (from now on referred to as t*****, or the T-technique). I did learn some CSS, but never was a shown even the simplest CSS layout. Yes, I know you are feeling sorry for me. Thank you, but no thank you
. I've already taken steps to rectify the situation.
After going through the entire CSS tutorial on w3schools, which is by the way one of the best places to learn up-to-date, working techniques, I have started making a simple personal website for myself. Not only that, but I have given up on Dreamweaver for now (as advised by andyl here on WDF), and have since then used Komodo Edit to code manually. Oh, I had forgotten how it feels good to know every corner of your site that you coded manually. I'm keeping the code clean and well organized, and altogether in a much better state than any software ever could. Alright, I don't know all of the commands, but who does? I have mastered the basics, and will slowly pick up new things as I progress. And that's the way it should be. But to get back to the point.
You can follow the progress I make on my site here: http://www.renariona...byethost17.com/. The basic design is pretty much done, may just add a few finishing touches as I see fit over time. The content will be slowly added too. I've put it online already just for display purposes, and to more easily seek advices and comments. If you do have some feedback please send it to me either by WDF or my email. Thanks.
Well so much for now. A quite lengthy post after a period of silence, but that's me
. Take care and thanks for reading.
